Student Nurse Technician - 3 East Medical/Surgical - Lutheran

Shifts: Days; Part and Full Time

Nights; Full and Part Time

Weekend Package Days and Nights

Each shift requires every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation

Benefits Eligible

Shift Differential for qualifying shifts

Full Time Sign-On Bonus: $3,000 paid over 1 year

3 East is a 27-bed Medical Surgical unit that provides an enriching learning experience. We care for patients with a variety of diagnoses including respiratory, gastroenterology, endocrinology, infectious disease, and stroke. 3 East utilizes innovative care delivery to help provide holistic care to our patients by utilizing advancements in technology partnered with fundamental nursing care. 3 East offers opportunities to advance critical thinking skills and nursing autonomy within our multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities

Minimum Requirements

Identify items that are minimally required to perform the essential functions of this position.

Preferred or Specialized

Not required to perform the essential functions of the position.

Education:

*Enrolled in a formal BSN or ADN nursing program to include completion of introductory clinical nursing course with clinical component.

*Team members within UPH-DM may remain in Student Nurse tech role for up to 6-months after passing the board and achieving RN license.

Experience:

*Completion of 1 RN clinical rotation

*Six months of nursing assistant experience

License(s)/Certification(s):

*Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Must possess and maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or obtain certification within three months from date of hire.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

*Ability to identify patients' needs and implement nursing care for a group of patients under the supervision of a RN/Clinical Instructor.

*Writes, reads, comprehends, and speaks fluent English.

*Multicultural sensitivity.

*Microsoft Office - basic computer skills.

*Customer/patient focused.

*Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.

*Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff.

*Ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.

Other:

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
