Choice between 32 hours (full-time); 4-8 hour shifts 8-4:30p OR 30 hours (part-time) 3-10 hour shifts 6a-4:30p

An Ultrasonographer, under the direction of the Clinical Manager-Imaging Services, is responsible for performing a variety of procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.

Responsibilities
  • Perform quality ultrasound exams on Outpatients, ER patients and Inpatients.
  • Perform Abdominal, Small Parts, OB, Gynecological, Breast, Special Procedures and Vascular scans.
  • Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.
  • Creates an environment that promotes staff empowerment. Displays creativity and innovation when making recommendations for improvement in the delivery of services to the hospital.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Responsible to maintain current professional expertise. Promotes personal and professional growth among coworkers. Exhibits discretion and sound judgment in all aspects of the job.
  • Collaborating with the Assigned Supervisor, effectively resolves complex unit situations, such as patient complaints and crises.
  • Researches and recommends short and long term strategies to meet the patient care needs. Assists with the achievement of objectives and necessary modifications for attainment of goals.
  • Represents UnityPoint Health (UPH) in a professional manner. Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model within the department and with hospital personnel.
  • Understands correct machine settings to produce accurate appearing images.
  • Selects technical factors and imaging modes. Informs supervisor or calls for service in absence of supervisor when needed.

Qualifications

Certified and holds current registration with the ARDMS or the ARRT in Sonography. Has RVT or will get RVT within the next 18 months.
