With guidance, monitors and analyzes all security camera systems to identify threats and safety concerns. Operates all electronic protection systems. With guidance, controls, monitors, and operates facility access system of team members, contractors, vendors, and visitors by key card. Detects potential threats, safety hazards, and site risks and responds to emergency situations. Assists with investigations and completes corporate safety and security trainings and learning courses and shadows experienced security operations team members.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures safety and protection of individuals and corporate property

  • Dispatches security, public safety, maintenance, or other personnel to alarm conditions across corporate office and branch locations

  • With guidance, controls, monitors, and operates facility access system of team members, contractors, vendors, and visitors by key card

  • Responsible for allowing or denying access, providing access cards, and maintaining the access database; prevents unauthorized facility access

  • Maintains log sheet of physical keys signed out.

  • Secures the facilities at the end of regular business hours and maintains this secure mode until the facility is unlocked for the next scheduled business day

  • Detects potential threats, safety hazards, and site risks. Responds to emergency situations, including but not limited to incidents of workplace violence, suspicious persons, team members stranded in elevators, accidents, fires, medical emergencies, crimes in progress, and alarm notifications

  • Follows emergency procedures and assists public safety officials to gain access to secure areas

  • Communicates security and safety concerns to people leaders, team members, contractors, vendors, tenants, public safety officials, and the general public to maintain a safe and secure workplace

  • Sends out companywide emergency alerts using emergency mass notification software during crisis situations, inclement weather, and building closures as needed

  • Serves as a member of EMC's Emergency Response Team for emergencies

  • Assists with site risk assessments, building lock and unlocks, emergency response, and regular walk-throughs to identify security and safety hazards and corporate policy violations

  • Completes corporate safety and security trainings and learning courses

  • Shadows experienced security operations team members to learn company policies and procedures and gain experience in safety and security

  • Consults experienced security operations specialists to ask questions, gain understanding in safety and security best practices, and gain basic skills to perform routine tasks

  • Assists with investigations, prepares initial reports for security or safety incidents or claims of loss on company premises, retrieves incident and/or accident data and develops reports, and preserves evidence as needed

  • With guidance, determines incident trending and location analysis to prevent future injury or damage to EMC assets

  • Provides detailed and informed suggestions for future mitigation

  • May be required to testify in court as a witness to criminal activity occurring on company premises

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalency

  • Experience in a security or similar environment preferred

  • CPR/AED certificate within the first 6 months of hire

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to perform CPR/AED as first responder

  • Ability to quickly assess a threat and be decisive based on limited information

  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills

  • Strong telephone etiquette, customer service, and communication skills

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills

  • Knowledge of the following tools preferred: Card access software, Building automations, Fire Panels, CCTV Surveillance Systems, documentation software, and Visitor Management software

  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality of corporate information and security protocols

  • Ability to occasionally work weekends, nights, and holidays, up to 10-hour shifts
