Performs foot patrols of buildings, parking lots and ramps, and outside areas of the corporate campus checking for fires, safety hazards, vandalism, trespassers, and/or suspicious and unusual activities to protect lives and property and prevent criminal acts. Responds to trespassers, aggressive individuals, medical emergencies, and other requests from the Security Operations Center. Composes detailed and accurate incident reports and shift logs. Performs building locks and unlocks, escorts team members to their cars or other destinations and interacts with responding law enforcement and emergency responders.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs foot patrols of building, parking lots, ramps, and outside areas of the corporate campus checking for security, safety, or maintenance issues

  • Performs building lock and unlocks

  • Collaborates with and provides support to responding law enforcement, fire personnel and emergency responders

  • Serves as a member of EMC's Emergency Response Team. Responds to emergency situations and potentially life-threatening situations, including but not limited to incidents of workplace violence, suspicious persons, team members stranded in elevators, accidents, fires, medical emergencies, crimes in progress, and alarm notifications. Enforces and follows emergency procedures and assists public safety officials to gain access to secure areas

  • Assists with investigations and claims of loss on company premises, retrieves incident and/or accident data, and preserves evidence as needed. Provides detailed and informed suggestions for future mitigation. Testifies in court as a witness to criminal activity occurring on company premises as necessary

  • Assists with the periodic distribution of supplies to medical cabinets across the corporate campus

  • Assists with the check of fire extinguishers and AEDs to ensure proper working condition

  • Performs team member escorts, including involuntary termination escorts

  • Performs duties in support of the security operations center as appropriate

  • Prepares reports on safety and/or security accidents. Documents all interactions as appropriate in case of future issues

  • Composes and maintains shift log documentation

  • Reviews and remains up to date with written departmental standard operating procedures

  • Enforces organizational rules and regulations, alerting team members and visitors of infractions

  • Assists individuals on property regarding directions

  • Shadows experienced security team members to learn company policies and procedures and gain experience in security and safety

  • Collaborates with team to ask questions and gain understanding in security and safety best practices

  • Provides feedback to supervisor for more efficient methods

  • Completes corporate security and safety trainings and learning courses beyond assigned Learning Central courses

  • Maintains external security and safety certifications to remain current on industry best practices regarding safety and security

  • Collaborates with Security and Safety Systems Analyst to learn about programming and updating of data and systems

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Experience in corporate security or similar environment preferred

  • CPR/AED certificate within the first 6 months of hire

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic computer skills

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Ability to communicate via radio and phone

  • Ability to maintain complete confidentiality of PII, PHI, corporate information, and security protocols

  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to respond quickly to sounds

  • Ability to identify and respond to potentially dangerous situations

  • Ability to wear personal protective gear most of the day

  • Ability to work in warm and cold environments and on concrete floors

  • Ability to work weekends, nights, and holidays up to 10-hour shifts
