The Weitz Company is seeking a Systems Administrator to join our Infrastructure Team in our Des Moines, IA Corporate office.

Our Infrastructure Team is growing and looking for an inquisitive, knowledge-driven individual with good problem-solving abilities and experience working as a Systems Administrator.

A Systems Administrator is responsible for the design, configuration, implementation and maintenance of various systems managed by the Information Technology (IT) department, alongside advanced resources and/or IT management. This role focuses on the administration of assigned system(s), including technical support, vendor relationships and when needed, acting as the final escalation point for related support issues. The Systems Administrator typically reports to an IT Manager.

What You'll Do Every Day:

  • Develop and execute system plans, including hardware/software installation, configuration, and deployment.
  • Thoroughly document system details, including hardware, software, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Monitor system performance, identify issues, and adjust configurations as needed.
  • Maintain systems with minimal disruption through updates, patches, and configuration changes.
  • Recommend enhancements and manage multiple projects, providing advanced technical support when necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality; be attentive of social networking pitfalls where confidentiality could be leaked.
  • Adhere to all company policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Some Business travel maybe will be required.
  • Minimal after-hours work may be required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.


What We're Looking For:

  • Desired Experience: A minimum of five (5) years in an IT related field is required; including hardware and software deployment, user support and server management. Experience managing Active Directory, VMware or Okta is desirable.
  • Skills: Organization, business acumen, time management, problem-solving, effective communication, attention to detail, initiative, discretion with sensitive and confidential information, adaptability, and prioritization abilities are all necessary skills for this role.
  • Education: An Associates' Degree in an IT-related field is preferred. A combination of technical training and certifications may be considered.
  • Technology: Proficiency with operating systems and basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Employee must have the ability to learn other specific software.
