Job Description:

The Quality Engineer role offers a unique platform to showcase your multi-disciplinary skills in a dynamic and inclusive work environment. You will be a cornerstone in the success of our newly formed Production Support Team, ensuring quality excellence in our software while serving a diverse user base across multiple time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Offer timely support to team members and stakeholders in multiple time zones, guaranteeing smooth operations and quick issue resolution.
  • Participate in both automated and manual testing cycles, using a variety of tools and methodologies to pinpoint, document, and track software flaws until they are rectified.
  • Proactively identify and escalate potential quality lapses, using established processes, to the attention of higher management.
  • Craft and implement thorough test plans, customized to meet the distinct needs of the insurance sector.
  • Team up with product managers, software engineers, and product owners to harmonize application features with overarching business goals.
  • Demonstrate leadership by guiding junior team members, allocating tasks efficiently, and contributing to regular performance evaluations to uphold team excellence.
  • Leverage your specialized knowledge of insurance products and regulatory frameworks to build realistic and precise test scenarios.
  • Engage proactively in an agile development environment, participating in planning sessions, daily stand-ups, and reviews to stimulate continuous team improvement.
  • Bridge the gap between technical and non-technical departments, ensuring clear and effective communication.
  • Conform to corporate protocols and compliance norms, while also contributing to broader organizational goals and milestones.

Preferred skills

  • Substantial understanding of the insurance domain.
  • Familiarity with Design Thinking and lean principles
  • Competency in automated testing tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance.
  • Demonstrable leadership abilities.
  • Experience with Agile development cycles.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, encompassing both written and spoken mediums.
  • Adeptness in navigating a corporate landscape.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
